Christmas and New Year Arrangements

Christmas Lights

Council Offices

All council offices will be closed to the public from 3pm on Wednesday, December 24 until 8.45am on Monday, January 5.

Emergency Council Services

Over the holiday period the emergency out-of-hours service will operate as normal on 08457 565656 for all council services, including matters of child protection.

Scottish Welfare Fund

Applications for Crisis Grants and Community Care Grants can be made by accessing the on-line form or view more information on our Scottish Welfare Fund page

Community Care

Community care will operate on December 29 and 30 and can be contacted via 01343 563999. Support workers will be contactable via their usual numbers. Day care centres will close at 4pm on Wednesday, December 24 and reopen on Monday, January 5.

Swimming Pools, Fitness Centres and Community Centres

Buckie Swimming Pool and Fitness Centre, Keith Sports and Community Centre and Lossiemouth Sports and Community Centre will be closed from Wednesday, December 24 to Friday, January 2 inclusive, with a holiday timetable operating on January 3 and 4. Normal timetables will resume on Monday, January 5.

Forres Swimming Pool and Fitness Centre will be closed from Wednesday, December 24 to Friday, January 2 inclusive, with the normal timetable resuming on Saturday, January 3.

Forres House Community Centre and Speyside Sports and Community Centre will be closed from Wednesday, December 24 to Sunday, January 4 inclusive, with the normal timetable resuming on Monday, January 5.

Cullen Community and Residential Centre, Elgin Sports and Community Centre and Milne’s Learning Centre Fitness Room will be closed from Saturday, December 20 to Sunday, January 4 inclusive, with the normal timetable resuming on Monday, January 5.

Football Pitches and Pavilions

Closed from Wednesday, December 24 to Friday, January 2 inclusive.

Refuse and Recycling

Household collections of residual waste (green bin) and garden/food waste (brown bin) will continue to alternate weekly and recycling containers will continue to be serviced fortnightly over the festive period. Collections may be carried out earlier than normal and containers should be presented for 7.30am.

All services, including recycling centres, will be closed on December 25 and December 26 and on January 1 and January 2.

Collections which would normally be made on Thursday, December 25 will instead be made on Saturday, December 27.

Collections which would normally be made on Friday, December 26 will instead be made on Sunday, December 28.

Collections which would normally be made on Thursday, January 1 will instead be made on Saturday, January 3.

Collections which would normally be made on Friday, January 2 will instead be made on Sunday, January 4.

The special collections and waste hotline will be closed from 3pm on Wednesday, December 24 and will reopen at 9am on Monday, January 5.

Excess waste and old Christmas trees can be taken to the recycling centres at Gollachy in Buckie, Chanonry in Elgin, Waterford in Forres or Balloch Road in Keith.

Libraries

All libraries will close at 3pm on Wednesday, December 24 and will be closed on December 25, December 26, December 31, January 1 and January 2.

Normal opening hours will apply on December 27, December 29 and December 30.

The mobile library service will not operate from Monday, December 22 to Friday, January 2 inclusive.

Registrars

The office at 240 High Street, Elgin, will close at 3pm on Wednesday, December 24. It will be open for business as normal from 9am to 5pm on Monday, December 29 and Tuesday, December 30. Thereafter the office will be closed until 9am on Monday, January 5. Dial M for Moray Bus Service

Please note the Dial M for Moray on demand bus services will not operate on 25th and 26th December and 1st and 2nd of January.

All bookings for journeys between 24th December and 5th January MUST be made before 1300 on the 23rd December.

The booking line will be closed from 1500 on 24th December and re open at 0845 on 5th January.

Please book early to avoid disappointment

Public Conveniences

All public conveniences will be closed on December 25 and December 26 and on January 1 and January 2.
