Review Pass Plus scheme

The Safer and Stronger Group agreed that the Pass Plus Scheme be discontinued and funding allocated to other priorities.   Funding has been re-located to targeted groups such as drink drivers, male drivers and drivers under the age of 25.

By targeting the funding to specific groups the statistics are showing a reduction in these categories and overall accident reduction.

Carry out actions under the Road Safety Strategy

Majority of schemes for 2008/09 were carried out and completed through the course of the year. Examples of schemes completed:
Road Safety Scheme – Road Safety improvement West Beach Lossiemouth;
Flood Warning signs in Forres;
Rural School Vehicle activated warning signs (Alves and Mosstowie;
Route Accident Reduction A941, B9103 etc
Cycling, Walking and Safer Streets Schemes – 4 school cycle shelters (rolling programme);
Building of Lossie Wynd Cycle Way (completed March 09);
Spey Bay footpath improvements.

The road engineering works undertaken have contributed to the overall reduction in road accidents.
