Telecare devices in place to support carers.  Collaborated by external research being undertaken at present - Q1

30 Jun 2009

At present around 1350 households are supported by Moray Lifeline and Telecare services. The majority of service users have a basic Community Alarm and pendant alarm. However, in addition, just under 500 second generation Telecare sensors are currently in use, supporting around 125 individual households throughout Moray.

Moray Community Health and Social Care Partnership, together with Distance Lab (a creative research
organisationbased at the Horizon Business Centre, Forres) have conducted a recent survey (running from 20/04/09 to 31/05/09) of the 1324 Moray Lifeline service users at that time. The key audience was the users of basic Community Alarm in Moray but included those with Telecare sensors by default. The postal survey received a 61% return and its full analysis was reported to the Health and Social Services Committee on 23.09.09.

The research has given a basis on which the current service can be reviewed and improved further. Updates will continue to be reported.

University of Leeds specifically about the impact of Telecare on carers lives.
