Food Premises Approval

Certain types of food premises that require to be approved by local authorities, and include manufacturers handling products of animal origin, e.g.

  • fish processors
  • meat processors
  • meat preparation plants
  • minced meat processing operations and mechanically separated meat processing plants
  • cold stores
  • milk and egg processing plants

Other non-retail premises which handle products of animal origin may also require approval. You can contact us to see if you require approval.

As a local authority, we follow guidance from Food Standards Scotland.

Will Tacit Consent Apply?

No. It is in the public interest that we process your application before it can be granted. If you have not heard from us within a reasonable period, please contact us.

Fees

There are no fees for applying for this approval.
