Expand the Apprentice Scheme to all Partners and to Include Graduates and Manual Workers

Example of new procedures re. appointments – committee clerk (maternity cover) grade 8 and an assistant registrar grade 4 developed from the second group of apprentices – verbal update
Explore opportunities of other funding bodies to develop further schemes – limited scope to pay salaries of young people, although Skills Development Scotland able to offer funding for SVQ qualifications – verbal update
Interview techniques and skills – no evidence, but each apprentice was allocated a placement
Feedback to inform future development of strategies for job/college/university – monthly progress meetings were held to check the development of each apprentice in relation to their work placement and long term ambition
Report on apprentice groups completion of SVQ, ECDL and other awards – see item 2 above
 Third group of apprentices – not done, programme frozen
1There were no drop outs and all those leaving the programme left for permanent work with reputable organisations mainly in the public sector. Two remaining by-products of the programme are: interest from young people looking for work or work experience with Moray Council; and continuing support and encouragement from the managers who had provided the apprentices with a placement.
