Moray Autism Partnership
Moray Council and NHS Grampian are developing new ways of working to respond better to the unique challenges faced by adults with autism.
A Moray Autism Partnership has been established to bring together adults with autism, parents and carers, council staff, the NHS and service providers to help implement the Moray Community Health and Social Care Partnership’s strategy for adults and children in Moray with autism.
Moray Council’s education and social care department is committed to involving service users, carers and the public within its services. The department routinely consults and involves people and develops partnerships so that people’s needs, views and suggestions can inform decision-making and improve the quality of life for people who use services at the same time as making best use of public funds and resources.
The autism partnership will help ensure adults with autism have the opportunity to be fully involved in the discussions on the next steps around the main priorities identified in the autism strategy.
These priorities include raising awareness and understanding of autism, establishing clear pathways for diagnosis, improving access to services, supporting people with autism into work and enabling organisations to plan and develop appropriate services for adults with autism.
The partnership is co-chaired by someone working in health and social care and a citizen leader with autism. Membership will be open to people with autism, parents and carers, along with representatives from various organisations including Moray Council, NHS Grampian, education, Job Centre, autism societies, housing organisations, Grampian Police and many more.
The partnership is currently evaluating its activities.
