(1) Does the council offer written translation into Gaelic or Scots? If so, are translations done in-house or contracted out?

(2) Does the council offer interpreting into Gaelic or Scots? If so, are interpreters in-house employees or outside contractors or something else?

(3) Generally, does the council automatically translate into any languages? If so, which ones?

Response 19-02-2013

(1) The Council has a formal contract in place with an external supplier for written translation.  If a service were to request Gaelic or Scots translation the supplier would be contacted to supply this service.

(2) The Council has a formal contract in place with an external supplier for face to face interpretation.  If a service were to request Gaelic or Scots interpretation the supplier would be contacted to supply this service.

(3) The Council does not have a policy to automatically translated documents into specific languages.  The decision is taken by each department based upon their client need.
