What to do in an Emergency

If there is immediate threat or violence:

Phone 999, or get someone else to phone immediately.

Move to a safe place:  avoid the kitchen; and stay near a door

If in doubt, try to get out.

Then, as soon as you can……

Contact Moray Womans Aid: 01343 548549 ( MWA link)

Scotland Police Domestic Abuse Unit: 01224 307104 (Monday to Friday 8am – 3pm) (DALO LINK)

The National Domestic Violence Helpline: 0808 2000 247 (24 hours a day, seven days a week)

Consider legal action to stop the violence.

If you need to get out…..

If you need to get out of your home, you can use our out of hours emergency service for homeless people.  We can arrange temporary accommodation and help you assess your choices.

If your situation is not an immediate emergency, but might become one; keep these things in a safe place:

  • Useful contact numbers, including the ones on this site
  • Cash for taxi/bus or train
  • Spare keys for car or house
  • Change of clothes, and essential documents
  • A plan of where to go and how to get there.
