LEADER Programme

LEADER is part of the Scotland Rural Development Programme (SRDP). LEADER is a bottom - up method of delivering support for rural development through implementing local development strategies. Support, awarded by Local Action Groups (LAGs), is aimed at local projects with a wide community benefit that show an element of originality or experimentation where possible, and complement other activities within the local development strategy.

The main aim of LEADER is to increase the capacity of local rural community and business networks to build knowledge and skills, and encourage innovation and co-operation in order to tackle local development objectives..

The area covered by the Moray LEADER programme is the Moray Council area excluding Elgin and the Cairngorms National Park (this is covered by Cairngorm Leader) The exception is where the project would lead to wider community benefit to all of rural Moray.

Revitalising communities and developing a progressive rural economy are the twin themes of the Moray LEADER local action group business plan

For more information and further details of all the projects supported, please view the Moray LEADER website at www.morayleader.org.uk  External website logo
