Respect Programmes in Moray Schools

Pat Bailey-McKay is employed by the Moray Council as their Domestic Abuse Information and Training Officer. Over the past 6 years she has been delivering a programme to schools in Moray which aims to prevent Domestic and Teen Abuse by helping young people to develop healthy relationships which will keep them safe.

The aim of the programmes is to promote Respect and Care for self and others and to encourage a sense of social responsibility.

The Primary programme is appropriate for Primary 6/7 focusing on Respect and using the Think Respect Pack produced by the Zero Tolerance Trust and consists of six 50 minute sessions using activities and discussion.

The Secondary Programme is aimed at Years 4 and 5 and consists of two 50 minute sessions. The Zero Tolerance Respect Pack is used in conjunction with the DVD ‘ Getting Ready’ which  highlights teen relationships and fits into the Health and Wellbeing aspect of their PSE.

Both of these programmes have been evaluated very positively by staff and pupils.
