Homelessness Policy - Records Management

It will be necessary for certain information to be exchanged with other agencies with which the service works.  This will be carried out in accordance with the terms of Data Protection legislation and any agreed guidelines and/or with respect to any information sharing protocols.  This includes statutory agencies such as the Social Work, NHS services, the police and any other relevant voluntary agencies.  

Certain information will be shared with the Scottish Government for statistical monitoring and analysis purposes.  The Council will ensure that such information is anonymous.

The Council will ensure that confidential information will be requested, retained and managed, in accordance with the Moray Council’s Information Management Strategy and Record Management Guidelines.

Information will not be disclosed to third parties without the customer’s written consent.  This will not apply if failing to share the information would be likely to put the customer, children or other people at risk or harm, or is required by law; if it would prejudice the prevention of crime.

The Council will ensure that customers have access to individual records by complying with the requirements of Data Protection legislation and by working in accordance with the Moray Council’s policies and procedures.
