Training Opportunities and Awareness Raising

The Moray Autism Strategy 2014 – 2024 highlight’s a need for an increase in the awareness and understanding of Autism among the general population of Moray, in particular professionals that come into contact, or could potentially come into contact with individuals with Autism.

We recognise that most people will have heard of autism but the majority do not currently have enough knowledge or understanding to think beyond stereotypes.  This lack of understanding can add adverse pressures to situations for people with autism, leading to increased stress and frustration, and causing isolation.

The Autism Training Team is now offering general autism awareness training.  The team includes Autism Trainers who have a diagnosis of Aspergers.  Places are available to book, at no cost, the sessions are held weekly, lasting 2.5 hours and are held in The Moray Council Annexe, Elgin.  The training is open to all those interested in developing their understanding and knowledge of Autism.

The training team is also keen to develop bespoke sessions to suit individual organisations or businesses and would welcome contact to discuss your training needs further.

Additional in-depth Autism training is available on application and your specific training needs can be discussed further with the Training Facilitator for Autism.
