FOI Request - Child Protection Guidelines Audit
On 8th August 2013 the Minister for Learning Science and Scotland’s Languages wrote to all Scottish Local Authority -
Directors of Education
Outreach Teaching Authorities
Home schools service
Educational Psychology Services
Care Inspectorate / HMIE
Child Protection Committee Chairs Forum
That letter suggested that local authorities might wish to ‘carry out an audit of current child protection guidelines or other related policy guidance’ and provided guidance on the areas that such an audit might address. I enclose the letter sent and a template for the exercise which was copied with letter. I wish specifically to obtain copies of the results of any such audits carried arising from that suggestion both collectively i.e. across a council, or specifically by any of the individuals in the roles identified. I would in addition be grateful for a copy of any guidance or policy altered or developed as a consequence of the audit exercise.
Following the letter dated 8th August 2013 from the Minister for Learning, Sciences and Scotland's Languages, Moray reviewed their School Child Protection Guidelines and advised all schools to remove all reference to 'Safe and Well'. As requested I will send a copy of the revised guidelines in a separate email.
The Moray CPC made a decision to await the publication of the revised National Child Protection Guidance before carrying out an audit. As you will be aware the revised guidance was delayed on several occasions until its very recent publication.
Following the imminent appointment of the Moray CPC's new Child Protection Lead Officer all current Child Protection Guidance will be reviewed in line with the revised guidance. The review will cover all partnership members of the Moray CPC.
