FOI Request - Endemic Drunken and Unruly Behaviour
Please treat this as a freedom of information request. I will include a response I got from Andy Jamieson at the Anti Social behaviour department or whatever it's called. I asked him where he managed to get the budget ( and the will) to tackle the 'burning' issue of fag tabby dropping in Elgin town centre. They seem to be able to get two community wardens to issue £80 fines to smokers yet I couldn't manage to get one response from one community warden to tackle the endemic drunken and unruly behaviour in the Bus Station. I will include part of his response.
Thanks you for your email dated 26 September and apologies for the delay in replying but I was out of the office on Friday.
As you are aware I do take all forms of antisocial behaviour very seriously and along with Police Scotland have deployed resources to tackling the issue you have in the area of the bus station and the St Giles Centre. However, dropping litter and in particular cigarette ends has been highlighted as a particular problem by communities and this is why the 2 week campaign was organised to tackle the issue.
You can be assured that the Community Warden and Police Scotland will continue to give attention to the bus station and St Giles Centre and tackle any identified antisocial behaviour.
Could you tell me who the 'communities' are who have highlighted the big fag tabby problem. I require copies of written correspondence or minutes from meetings that allude to this problem. Thank you.
