FOI Request - Taxi Licenses - Criminal Record
1. By calendar year, from 2010 to 2014, how many taxi licences have been given to drivers with a criminal record.
2. In each instance, provide a summary of their criminal record. A simple breakdown ie. burglary, assault, etc.
A formal record of actual conviction that was on their at the time of applying for a licence.
The information for 2014 can be found here.
The information for 2010-2013 is exempt under Section 12(1) of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002, excessive cost as there is no further specification available without manually reviewing all taxi application records for the period in question. That is likely to be over 150 records per year i.e. 750 or more records. Paper records would need to be requested from storage, searched and examined for details of a "criminal record" (once clarified), collated and typed before a response would be possible. The time and hourly staff cost to manually review the information in this way would exceed the limit of £600.
