Moray's Botanical Habitats

Fir Clubmoss. Huperzia selago - Fir Clubmoss, Moray.

This is a non flowering plant typical of upland moorlands, especially slightly boggy areas. It does not produce seeds, but spores, in a manner very similar to the ferns, to which it is closely related.

One of the easiest ways to look at the wild plants is to break them down into what are called habitats - in other words, group them together on the basis of where they grow. Some plants are happy growing in a whole range of habitats, but many are quite particular, needing for example a shady pine forest, or an exposed mountain ridge. Click on each of the habitat links below to view a range of plants from the particular habitat.
