Royal visits are an important part of the
Royal Family's role. Many of the visits are connected to charities and other
organisations with which members of the Royal Family are associated. n other
cases, Royal visits help to celebrate historic occasions in the life of an area.
Visits are always memorable occasions for the
hosts, and provide a high-profile celebration of their work and achievements.
All visits are carefully planned to ensure
that as many people as possible have the opportunity to see or meet members of
the Royal Family.
Requests for Royal visits can be submitted to
the relevant Private Secretary with a copy to the Lord-Lieutenant or directly to
the Lord-Lieutenant.
Submissions should contain the reason for the
Royal visit (ie new building, anniversary etc.) and brief background notes on
the event/organisation.
The Lord-Lieutenant can also advise on how to
contact the various Royal households.
