The Queen's Award for Enterprise is an honour which recognises outstanding UK companies and encourages the development of British business.

There are two types of award - for businesses and for individuals. Awards are made annually in three different categories and are designed to recognise businesses that have made outstanding contributions to Britain’s well being.

The Queen's Awards for Enterprise Promotion are intended to recognise individuals who make outstanding contributions to enterprise culture in the UK.

The Awards are announced each year on 21 April 2006, The Queen's birthday. The Lord-Lieutenant, usually at a ceremony held on the company's premises, will present awards to the recipients.

Winners receive a range of benefits including worldwide recognition and extensive press coverage. The Queen also invites winners to a reception at Buckingham Palace.
