Online Payments - New User's Guide |
Welcome to the New User’s Guide to Online Payments.
We are glad you have chosen to make payment of your bill or invoice online and are sure you will find that this is a flexible way to make payment at a time which is convenient to you, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
Online Payments is also a safe and secure method to make payment. Moray Council has used industry-standard Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology to provide 128-bit encryption of all personal and card details and our Online Payments webpage is certified by Thawte, the global SSL certification authority, as a trusted site.
All you need to make a payment online is your bill’s account number or your invoice’s reference number, which you will be able to find on the bill or invoice sent to you by the Council, and a valid credit or debit card.
We currently only accept payments made by the following cards:
What happens when you make a payment?
When you make payment online, we will confirm your identity and ask you to provide us with contact details. These details will permit us to get in touch with you should we need to discuss the payment that you have made.
Once you have made your payment you will be provided with a transaction number. Please take careful note of this number as you will need to quote it if you have to contact us about the payment that you have made. When you are making your payment, you will also have an opportunity to input your personal Email address – which you should do carefully to ensure it is entered correctly – so a receipt can automatically be sent by Email to that address as part of the transaction.
Once you have made the payment, and it has been authorised by your card-provider, we will process the payment to your account within two business days. There may, however, be a slight delay for payments made during the weekend.
Please refer to the ‘Your Questions Answered’ section in the See Also section for any other questions that you may have.
