Under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 (FOISA), I would like to make the following request for information relating to the animal services provided by your local authority.

Dog Warden Service

1. How are dog control functions delivered within your local authority? Please tick one of the following:

a) A dedicated Dog Warden service or officer Yes ? No ?

2. What has been the local authority’s annual spend on the dog warden service for the last three years? Either for inhouse or outsourcing the role.

b) During each of the years 2024 and 2025, how many Dog Control Notices were issued for incidents that took place indoors?

c) Could you please provide a breakdown of each breed, including crossbreeds, that have been served a Dog Control Notice, specifying the number of notices issued for each breed during each of the years 2024 and 2025?

1. Does the local authority have a documented standard operating procedure or policy regarding dog safety for workers visiting private property in the course of their employment?

• Please include both workers employed directly by the local authority and workers contracted to work on the authority’s behalf, for eg including, but not limited to, refuse collectors, social workers, housing officers etc

2. How many instances of dog bites were reported to RIDDOR (https://www.hse.gov.uk/riddor/) in the last three years by the local authority?

• Please indicate whether your available data separates workers from members of the public. If it does, please supply the two figures separately.

2. Not held. The figures are not able to be reported as the annual spend is within the environmental health section and not broken down into sub sections. Information that is now held falls under S.17 FOISA - information not held.

   1. Each service has responsibility for putting into place their own procedures as regards visits to premises due to the varied nature of visits across the council.   Services which do visit premises will consider Animal attacks as part of the risk assessment process. This information is not held by Environmental Health.
