Duke of Edinburgh
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is recognised as the World’s leading accreditation for young people. Young people aged 14-24 undertake 4 sections at Bronze and Silver level or 5 sections at Gold level):
- Volunteering
- Physical Activity
- Skills
- Expeditions (camping)
- Residential (5 days/4 nights: Gold level only)

Young people can create a unique DofE "journey" tailored to both their interests and their goals. This can link very well with employability in terms of:
- Volunteering to help build confidence and experience for work and employability
- Learning new skills and physical activity that can help them on many levels (social, emotional and behavioural)
- Expedition - training as a team(leadership and team work) to spend time in an outdoor environment with an aim and a journey (walking/cycling/canoeing)
There are so many ways that the DofE Award can be part of a young person's package of support for positive destinations in their life and it works well within employability and multi-agency partnership work with young people.
