Sports, Physical Activity and Health (Sports Development) Volunteers

The Sports Development section of Moray Council are always keen to recruit volunteers to help deliver and enhance their service.  The Sports Development section covers a range of programmes including Community Sports Hubs, Macmillan Move More Programme, Health Walks, Walking Football, Junior Sports Coaching Programmes (term time and holiday periods), coach education and training, exercise prescription and events.  We recruit volunteers to help lead and/or assist our coaching/activity programmes, to undertake administration tasks and to help organise and deliver events.

We also have volunteering opportunities connected to our Community Sports Hubs that require volunteers to sit on the various Committees and potentially undertake roles such as a secretary, treasurer, youth representative, communications co-ordinator, social media representative.  For the Macmillan Move More Programme which is a project that supports people affected by cancer by supporting them to become more physically active there are volunteer opportunities to become involved in the 4 strands of their programme - walking, gardening, gentle movement or circuits/exercise class.

A range of opportunities are available to suit the needs and interests of every volunteer.  Volunteers will be supported and mentored throughout their time with the team and opportunities will be available to gain coaching and training qualifications where possible.

An Activity Leaders Handbook which contains relevant information for staff and volunteers in relation to expectations from both parties can be provided on request.

If volunteering within the Sports Development team is something of interest then please complete the Volunteer Registration of Interest Form or the Application Form on the Volunteering in Moray webpage and we will be in touch in due course.  For informal enquiries please contact 01343 563657 or email educationandsocialcare@moray.gov.uk
