Chief Executive Blog - July 2014

Hello

With sunshine, rain, thunder and a bit of lightning all in the space of one afternoon – it can only mean one thing - summer is officially here.

As we reach July, many of us will be looking forward to and planning a break from work over the summer period. During that time I expect that more than a few of you will be watching, spectating or perhaps even participating in the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games in July.

We had our own taste of the excitement to come when we welcomed the Queen’s Baton Relay into Moray last week and it was great to follow the route taken and see the communities in each area get involved in supporting each leg of the Baton’s journey through Moray.

In the run up to my own summer break I have continued to focus on the work of the Area Based Review and the Community Planning Board. I also travelled to Edinburgh for the Chief Executive Joint meeting, and for meetings with CoSLA/SOLACE and Audit Scotland.

When I get back from my holiday I will be involved in the recruitment and selection of two new Directors to the Corporate Management Team and I look forward to both making the appointments and working closely with the new team members – whoever they may be - in the future months.

So, short and sweet for this month - whether your holiday involves travelling abroad or planning a ‘staycation’ I hope you all find time to relax and unwind and I look forward to seeing you back after the break, suitably refreshed.
