Please provide the following recorded information for the period 7 May 2026 to the date of this request.

1. Specific documents

Please provide copies of:

a) any letter or email from the Scottish Government setting out the council's share of 2026-27 funding for teacher numbers, and any conditions attached, and the council's reply;

b) any submission from the council to the Scottish Government or COSLA explaining a change in teacher numbers, or asking for exceptional circumstances or mitigations to be accepted, for the September 2025 or September 2026 teacher census, and any reply received;

c) the sign-off or covering note for the council's September 2026 teacher census return, if it has been completed;

d) any correspondence with the Scottish Government or COSLA about the Teacher Jobs Guarantee for newly qualified teachers;

e) any correspondence with the Scottish Government or COSLA about the 2026-27 probationer allocation, or about employing teachers after their probation year.

2. Correspondence with national bodies. Copies of correspondence between the Chief Executive, the Director of Education (or equivalent), the Chief Finance Officer or the Head of HR, and any of:

a) the Scottish Government Learning Directorate, including the Education Workforce Unit
b) the office of the Cabinet Secretary for Education, Culture and Gaelic
c) the office of the Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Local Government
d) COSLA
e) the Association of Directors of Education in Scotland (ADES)
f) the Joint Education Assurance Board
g) where it concerns teacher numbers, the pupil–teacher ratio, teacher funding, class contact time, probationers or the Teacher Jobs Guarantee.

3. Reports. A list (title, date and meeting) of reports or briefings presented to Full Council, the Education Committee (or equivalent), the Finance or Policy and Resources Committee, or the Corporate Management Team, that discuss teacher numbers, the balance of permanent, temporary and supply teachers, or teacher funding. For published reports, a link is enough. For unpublished reports, please provide copies.

4. Senior officer emails. Emails between the four posts named in part 2 only (not an organisation-wide search), where the subject line or body includes any of: "teacher numbers", "Teacher Jobs Guarantee", "probationer", "permanent post", "temporary contract", "supply teacher", "mitigation" or "exceptional circumstances".
