We shall do our best to provide what you need at the time of your visit. You will help greatly by giving us as much advance notice as possible (not less than two working weeks please). Ideally you should make your arrangements with us at the beginning of term, as this will allow us to co-ordinate our efforts and the possibility of visits from a number of different schools, especially to temporary museum exhibitions.
We want you to get the maximum benefit from your visit, and so if you are proposing to bring a group or whole class of children to the museum, we suggest that you make some preparations beforehand so that you and your children enjoy a successful trip, and so that your investment in time and effort is well rewarded.
If you are a teacher you will want to have a clear picture of how the experience relates to the curriculum. You will therefore find it helpful to discuss this aspect with museum staff beforehand, and we would also suggest that if possible, you make a prior visit to the museum on your own. Sometimes one member of staff from a school is able to do this on behalf of several teachers.
If you intend to prepare work sheets or other similar material, then a prior visit to the museum will be essential. We have only limited resources to prepare teaching materials for you, but if you discuss your requirements with us we may well be able to suggest where you will find additional information.
Children under 16 should normally be accompanied by an appropriate number of adults (teachers and / or classroom assistants). All museum staff have been subject to Disclosure checks under the appropriate Moray Council policy.
