1. For each food & drink product used by the local authority in its schools, please supply:
a. Name of Supplier and its location (see question below
b. Country of origin
c. Quantity ordered (by number of units or item weight / volume as appropriate)
d. Total spending on each product (including cost per item if possible)
2. Does the local authority contract directly with any suppliers for any food or drink products used in schools?

3. There is not a defined policy but these elements would be considered as part of our sustainability duty and are generally incorporated into our procurement strategy for each tender. Sustainable sourcing would form part of the technical questions and evaluation of the tenders and are weighted accordingly which suppliers are scored upon. Additionally our contracts adopted on a National basis are subject to engagement with the National Farmers Union and will continue to be developed in accordance to correspondence to them in coming framework generations.
4. Yes, as part of our sustainability duty “Food miles”, waste reduction, vehicle emissions and the carbon footprint outline of goods provided form part of the technical questions and evaluation of the tenders and are weighted accordingly which suppliers are scored upon.
5. Not really- each school monitors food and they weigh food waste periodically for HMI inspections purposes.
6. The primary schools are pre order meals so this helps reduce food waste. The Cook/Supervisor monitors the food waste and if it is a lot then we look at the reasons why. For example if the children are taking the vegetables/potatoes but not eating them.
7a. Primary and secondary both have a meat free day each week in the menu cycle.
