FOI Request - Waiting Times for Social Housing

Request 101003327375

1.  The average time needed for individuals/households to be placed in social housing.

2.  The longest time an individual/household has been waiting to be placed into social housing.

Response 26-06-2023

1. We have assumed that you are asking for the overall average waiting time for applications currently waiting for housing, which is 2.2 Years.

It is important to note that some applications will not be at an offerable status.  In addition, with the exception of homeless households who are normally re-housed in date order, we operate a needs-based allocations policy. The total number of points on the application determines the position on the housing list at any given time and we do not award any points associated with length of time spent on the list. An applicant’s circumstances may worsen or improve during the life of their housing application and this means their total number of points may be reassessed and their position can change frequently. Our allocations policy is available at www.moray.gov.uk/downloads/file125428.pdf

2. The longest time an application has been on our housing list for is 35 Years.  However, this application is at a non-offerable status.
