Conservation Area Review consultation

Many of Moray’s conservation areas have not been reviewed for some time with some having not been reviewed since their original designation.  Local Authorities not only have a statutory duty to designate as conservation areas parts of settlements which have a special historic or architectural interest, but also to undertake reviews.

A review of the Cullen, Portknockie, Findochty, and Archiestown conservation areas were undertaken. The purpose of the review was to undertake a thorough assessment and understanding of the key qualities of each conservation area through the preparation of individual character appraisals as well as a review of each boundary with recommendations being made on proposed changes.

The public consultation on the appraisals and the proposed boundary changes will run from: 1 November to January 19 2024.

Following the public consultation all comments received will be reported to a future meeting of the Planning & Regulatory Services Committee along with proposed final changes to the boundaries for agreement.

All comments should be sent to localdevelopmentplan@moray.gov.uk
