FOI Request - Selkie Dredger

Request 101003430777

I am writing to submit a freedom of information request about Moray Council’s dredger Selkie.

I am requesting a chronological list of all the repairs that have been done to the Selkie since it launched that have required it to be out of service.

Please supply the specific repairs that needed to be done, the cause of any damage if applicable, the length of time it was out of service, and the cost of the repairs.

Response 07-12-2023

There are in the region of 80 invoices per annum to do with repairs/maintenance of the vessel. Each invoice would have to be opened to identify what it is actually for, the date noted and then it would have to be tied up with the daily log to see if we can identify if the vessel was out of action.  The log might not always tell us the reason (for example the log will also give the weather forecast and if the weather is bad the vessel will be 'out of action', or it might be that there is something requiring a repair). At an estimated 4 minutes per invoice this would mean 5.5 hours per year of invoices and there are 8 years of the vessel operating. This would cost the Council in excess of £600, so, in accordance with section 12 of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002, excessive cost, we are therefore unable to comply with your request..
