FOI Request - Assistance Therapy Animals Visiting Schools

To request information held on assistance/therapy animals visiting schools within the Council area in each of the last two years (2023-24 and 2024-25 to date) please.

Please state, if you can, any information which you can provide, such as the number of animals each year, the type of animal (eg dog and breed), and in broad terms the purpose (eg assistance dog to support pupil with Additional Support Needs).

2023 - 3 dogs (2 Labradors & 1 Cocker Spaniel)
1 labrador in school for a transition activity.
1 labrador - guide dog visiting P7 class to raise awareness of the role of assistance dogs.
1 spaniel - therapy dog in training to support P5/6 pupil's wellbeing plus dedicated time for individual pupils if needed.

2024 - 1 dog (Cocker Spaniel)
Therapy dog in training to support P5/6 pupil's wellbeing plus dedicated time for individual pupils if needed.
