FOI Request - Number of Vacant Council Properties
Request 101003869309
1. How many Council properties are vacant, including ones that have been boarded up, where the tenants are in jail, on remand?
2. Is the Moray Council's practice to keep a tenancy open if the tenant is sentenced and in jail?
Response 07-11-2025
1. Information not held. Information that is not held falls under Section 17 of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 - Information not held.
2. The Tenants' Handbook states that tenants must normally live in the property as their main home and if they are going to be away for an extended period—such as serving a prison sentence—they must inform the council. They will assess whether your tenancy can be maintained during your absence.
