Under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002, I am requesting information held by your authority in relation to The Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) (Scotland) Regulations 2021.
This request covers:
• Part 1: General questions about inspectors and public registers regarding animal welfare establishments
• Part 2: Operating an Animal Welfare Establishment
As per the licensing regulations, in this request, an animal welfare establishment refers to ‘a place, or places, in Scotland where—
(a)relevant animals that have been abandoned or otherwise separated from their keeper including as a result of a relevant relinquishment or a relevant seizure, or
(b)sick, injured or captured relevant animals that were previously living in a wild state,
are kept for their care.’
Part 1: General questions about inspectors and public registers regarding animal welfare establishments
1. The number of inspectors currently employed for the purpose of inspecting animal welfare establishments.
2. The minimum qualification requirements for individuals conducting inspections of animal welfare establishments.
3. Whether those carrying out animal welfare establishment inspections have responsibilities beyond animal welfare (e.g., pest control, alcohol licensing).

4. Whether a public register of licensed animal welfare establishments is available on your website.
