FOI Request - Buckie Harbour Leases
Request 101003907873
Now that Moray Council has leased out one of Buckie Harbour pier to Ocean Winds, Ocean Wind have installed pontoons, put security fencing around same to the East and West Side of this pier, there are signs stating private and no mooring.
1. Can you advise when the Ocean Wind wind boats don't use the pontoons and moor up on other piers are they paying harbour dues for using the other piers ?
2. And if so at what rate.
Response 30-01-2026
1. Ocean Winds lease pier 3 for the Moray West project and if a vessel on that project is unable to berth on those pontoons for whatever reason they would be charged harbour dues for those vessels.
2. All vessels are charged as per the harbour rates and charges which are published online. The charge used depends on the type of vessel, Crew Transfer Vessels (CTV's) are charged per meter or part thereof with the rate dependant on the length of contract. It is £4 per meter per day, £84 per meter per month and £882 per meter per annum. Other types of vessel would be charged under tugs and maintenance/service vessels which is £6 per meter per 7 days. There are other charges such as for passenger transfer, water or power (if used) and a compulsory garbage charge applied to all commercial vessels using the harbour.
