Response 19-02-2026
1. Not applicable. Moray Council do not have a Severe Weather Emergency Protocol that is "activated". It is an ongoing process of sharing guidance and information with the public about resilience, planning and preparing for such an event. This includes information on flooding, power outages and what to do if an evacuation is needed. In the event that severe weather is forecast and threatens serious damage to human welfare or to the environment then Moray Council can decide to follow their General Emergency Plan for planning, preparation, responding and recovery.
2. Not applicable. Storm Floris was within the date range you have specified where planning and preparation was made ahead of and during the incident to ensure an appropriate response, alongside our partners, to meet the needs of those most affected.
3. Not applicable - As explained above.
4. During Storm Floris our Health and Social Care Moray partnership were in contact with all those vulnerable people who are known to them to ensure they had suitable support throughout. Our Emergency Response Coordinator ensured there was prior planning at the start of the event and then a joined up response across departments to deal with incidents that arose as a result of the severe weather. Our roads department in particular was effective in clearing a number of routes of debris and fallen trees. Once the incident had passed its most severe then the recovery operation was put in place to deal with damage caused and to help those affected recover.
