Response 27-02-2026
1.a) The pilot boats are insured by the Council.
b) Not held. There is a single insurance premium for all the vessels owned by the council and therefore the pilot boat premium cannot be disaggregated. Information that is not held falls under Section 17 of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 - Information not held.
Boats owned and operated by the council as harbour authority are not charged dues.
2. The Selkie is crewed and operated to council instruction and in line with legislation on working hours. In general terms this is a block period of working to maximise productivity.
