Certificate of Compliance for Food - Street Traders
Any street trader selling food in Moray must hold a Certificate of Compliance for each vehicle or unit. This certificate is issued by the Local Authority area where the vehicle or unit is normally kept. For traders based in Moray, this is Moray Council.
A Certificate of Compliance must be submitted as part of your street trader licence application.
Apply for a Certificate of Compliance
You should apply at least 21 days before you intend to submit your street trader licence application.
Once we receive your application and payment, our Environmental Health team will contact you to arrange an inspection of your vehicle or unit.
Standards Your Vehicle/Unit Must Meet
Your vehicle or unit must comply with the Mobile Traders Food Hygiene National Standard, which sets out the requirements for food safety and hygiene for mobile traders.
During the inspection we will check whether your operation meets these standards
Fee
- The fee for a Certificate of Compliance is £128.
- This fee covers administration and inspection costs.
- If your vehicle or unit does not meet the required standards, a certificate will not be issued and no refund will be given.
After the Inspection
If your vehicle or unit meets the required standard, we will issue your Certificate of Compliance.
You must submit this certificate with your street trader licence application.
Please note that receiving a Certificate of Compliance does not guarantee that a street trader licence will be granted.
Certificates must be renewed every 3 years to align with the Street Traders Licence.
Change of Operator
Certificates of Compliance cannot be transferred to another business operator.
If ownership of the business changes, the new operator must apply for their own certificate.
Trading Outside Moray
If you intend to trade in another Local Authority area, you must present your Certificate of Compliance to the Licensing Authority in that area.
