I would be grateful if you could provide the following information:

a) The average time (in days) taken to register a death in your local authority area for:
i) The most recent 12-month period available
ii)Each of the preceding two years (if available)

b) The percentage of deaths registered within the statutory eight-day period for the same timeframes

2. Delays and Backlogs

a) The number and proportion of deaths taking longer than eight days to register

b) The longest recorded registration time (in days) within the most recent 12-month period

3. Capacity and Resourcing

a) The number of registrars (full-time equivalent) currently employed

b) Any changes to registrar staffing levels over the past three years

c) Whether temporary staff, agency cover, or overtime arrangements have been used to manage workload

4. Operational Arrangements

a) Whether your authority has any formal or informal workload-sharing or mutual support arrangements with other local authorities

b) Details of any significant process or system changes within the last three years that may have impacted registration times

5. Pressures and Mitigation

a) Any known factors currently contributing to delays in death registration

b) Details of any steps being taken, or planned, to reduce delays and improve performance
