A Classroom Visit by the Museum Staff

Learning Opportunities

A visit to your classroom by the museum staff is an excellent way to combine learning with the opportunity for children to meet people from outside the school, in an appropriate environment and context. The Museums Service holds collections of many thousands of original items collected from around Moray, and which we can bring along to the classroom to let children see and handle them. There is no better way to bring children into direct contact with their past, in the form of places, events, people and experiences.

Curriculum

A visit should normally bear some direct relationship with curriculum topics, and we are happy to discuss with your school the precise way in which this takes place. It may be that with your help we can pre-select a variety of objects to bring along, or perhaps you have already formed an idea as to the kind of objects you would like.

Period of Notice Required

In any case, you will need to contact us in plenty of time to arrange a visit from us. Please remember that demand on us is heaviest at the start of the autumn term, and that we will need several weeks' notice to prepare for our visit to your school.

Safety

All museum staff have been subject to the appropriate Disclosure checks in accordance with Moray Council policy.
