Remit
- Support Councillors through the provision of strategic and policy advice, guidance, information and promotion of good governance. To support and inform decision making and scrutiny.
- Principal policy advisor to the council supporting Councillors in determining the council's strategic objectives and priorities and ensuring that advice to the Council is given on a coordinated basis with appropriate and proper input from relevant senior officers.
- Providing strategic direction for the council by securing in conjunction with Elected Members and appropriate officers the preparation for budget and policy options, and to lead on corporate policy and programmes.
- Coordination of the Council's services to deliver the Council's corporate and strategic aims, plans and priorities.
- Line management and appraisal of Executive Directors and Chief Officer (Moray IJB).
- Leadership of the Corporate and Extended Leadership Teams and the Leadership Forum.
- Promoting, developing and maintaining positive and effective internal and external partnerships and establishing and maintaining constructive internal and external working relationships.
Note: the Chief Executive has overall strategic leadership for the Council's functions with responsibility for the effective management of the council, providing advice and guidance on major policy options, ensuring the effective planning and implementation of council policies, priorities and service delivery and monitoring the council's overall performance. As Head of Paid Service the Chief Executive is also responsible for providing leadership, motivation and strategic direction for the council's staff.
