Failing to Meet Standards
If a business fails to meet food hygiene standards, authorised officers can take action. This usually starts with advice and written warnings and may escalate to enforcement notices requiring improvements or restricting operations. Serious breaches can be reported for prosecution, which may result in fines or a ban on running a food business.
