FOI Request - Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (RAAC) and School Estate

Request 101003389392

This week it has emerged that over 100 English schools have been told to immediately stop using any parts of their buildings made from Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (RAAC). We would like to understand the extent of the issue in Scotland when it comes to the school estate. The Scottish government has said that all local authorities have been asked to carry out work “to fully understand the presence of RAAC across the school estate” and that returns from all local authorities were due this week.

1. Could you please therefore provide me with the information shared with the Scottish government by your authority when it comes to RAAC and the school estate.

2. Could you also please set out any work already carried out by your authority to address the presence of RAAC in the school estate, naming the school; the extent of the work and the impact on the school (did the school have to close? Were some pupils relocated?); and the cost.
