Scope and timeframe

Please provide the following recorded information for the school/Education workforce for the period 1 August 2022 to the most recent complete month:

A. Working days lost (monthly or, if not held monthly, termly/annual with the latest month separately):
1) Working days lost due to work-related stress.
2) Working days lost due to anxiety/depression (or combined “mental ill-health” if recorded that way—please state which).
3) Working days lost due to all-cause sickness (for context).
For each item above, where routinely held, please also provide a breakdown by job family (teachers; pupil support assistants; admin/clerical; janitorial/facilities; catering; other school-based).

B. Annual indicators (per academic year 2022/23, 2023/24, and 2024/25 to date):
1) Headcount of employees with =1 absence episode coded as stress/anxiety/depression.
2) Headcount of employees with long-term absence (=20 working days) coded as stress/anxiety/depression.
3) Total FTE for the Education/Schools workforce (for denominators).
4) If routinely reported, average working days lost per FTE for stress/anxiety/depression.

C. Coding and definitions:
1). The absence reason codes used for stress, anxiety, depression and other mental ill-health, with any definitions/data dictionary.
2) Any internal guidance used to classify or report these reasons.

D. Management information:
Copies of any management/committee reports since 1 August 2023 that summarise stress-related absence trends in Education/Children’s Services.
