Our IT courses cater for all abilities, from complete beginners to experienced users. We offer SQA and BCS accredited qualifications, from SCQF Level 3 to Level 6. 

We can also offer bespoke training for individuals or groups.

Free Taster Sessions

Free taster sessions are available for absolute beginners, including Getting Started with IT, Using the Internet and Email and Using an iPad.

PC Passport Beginners Level Units

PC Passport units are accredited by SQA. We offer 3 individual beginners level units, each delivered in a small group, classroom setting where the course tutor is always present. Each unit normally lasts for 8 - 10 weeks.

PC Passport: Introduction to IT Software and Presenting Information - is designed to be an introduction to four main types of IT software - artwork and imaging, word processing, presentations and spreadsheets.

PC Passport: Introduction to the Internet and On-line Communications - is designed to enable candidates to develop basic skills in Internet and online communications.

PC Passport: Web Apps: Word Processing – teaches learners to create, edit, save, share and retrieve simple documents using web and desktop word processing applications. Learners will also acquire basic skills in file management.

ICDL (formerly ECDL)

The International Certification of Digital Literacy (formally ECDL) is an internationally recognised qualification from the BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT that enables individuals to certify their computer skills to an internationally recognised standard. ICDL is a great course for anyone interested in gaining a functional understanding of computers and some of the most common software applications used in modern business environments, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. It is highly regarded around the world and is seen by employers as a benchmark in IT user competence. The course consists of 7 modules that can be completed in any order:
• IT Security for Users
• IT User Fundamentals
• Word Processing Software
• Spreadsheet Software
• Database Software
• Presentation Software
• Using the Internet and Email.
The course start date is flexible. Candidates work at their own pace and have 2 years to complete the qualification.

Advanced ICDL Word Processing

This module sets out advanced skills that can be used to produce complex documents, enhance outputs, and improve productivity, when using a word processing application. Successful candidates will be able to:
• Apply advanced text, paragraph, column and table formatting. Maintain a consistent design through the use of character and paragraph styles.
• Work with referencing features like footnotes, endnotes and captions. Manage citations and bibliography using a chosen citation style. Create tables of contents, indexes and cross-references.
• Enhance productivity by using fields, forms and templates.
• Apply advanced mail merge techniques and work with automation features like macros.
• Use linking and embedding features to integrate data.
• Collaborate on and review documents locally or online. Apply document security features.
• Work with watermarks, sections, and headers and footers in a document. Use a thesaurus and manage spell check settings.
Candidates work at their own pace and have 1 year to complete the qualification.

One to One Tuition

Tuition on agreed topics can be arranged at a cost of £29 per hour.  Suitable for those who want to learn more about specific topics, or those who prefer one to one training.

Bespoke Training Courses

Training courses can be developed to cover agreed training needs. Cost is dependent on duration and on the number of attendees.
