Western Link Road

At the Moray Council meeting on 30 March 2016 the funding for the Western Link Road (WLR) was removed from the Capital Plan thereby cancelling the project.

The Council has subsequently authorised officers to request the Scottish Government to cancel the Compulsory Purchase Order (CPO) and this process is ongoing. The Council will be writing to all those directly affected by the CPO confirming its cancellation.

The WLR was a key element in improving the road network within Elgin therefore with its removal, together with the implications of the Local Development Plan 2015, a new transport strategy for Elgin is needed. This need was outlined in a report to the Council on 7 June 2016.  Information on this can be found on the Transport Strategy  page.
