What is adoption?

Thank you for considering adoption. We know that you’ll have a number of questions and we hope that the following information can provide some answers.

Our adoption team finds families for local children who can no longer be cared for by their birth families. These children need love and stability for the rest of their childhood; a family they can rely on in their adult lives. We strive to ensure children maintain a meaningful connection with their birth families.

Adoption is a legal process whereby approved adopters provide a safe, nurturing and compassionate home for children who, for whatever reasons, cannot be cared for by their birth parents and wider family.

As an adopter you take on the legal rights and responsibility for a child and they become a member of your family. You will be making a lifelong commitment to your adopted and our team supports you through this life changing process and helps to give you the skills and tools required.

Adopters come from a variety of backgrounds, relationship status, sexuality, beliefs and ethnicity. Adoptive children need love and stability for the rest of their childhood and a family they can rely on for the whole of their life.
