Standards and Values in Relation to Adoption
Adoption services in Moray and throughout Scotland are regulated by the Care Inspectorate . The National Care Standards for adoption agencies have been developed to ensure that the service being provided is of high quality. These standards are based on a set of principles which recognise that services to all involved in adoption must be suitable for everyone who needs them, including people from black and ethnic minority communities. They reflect the view that your experience of receiving services is very important and should be positive and that you have rights.
Please refer to the National Care Standards at www.scotland.gov.uk/Topics/Health/care/17652
You will be given a copy of the standards to refer to before an adoption assessment is started.
We will endeavour to keep you informed about proceedings throughout the time we are working with you. Should you become dissatisfied with any aspect of our service, speak to your worker straight away. If matters cannot be resolved The Moray Council operates a complaints procedure, the details of which can be obtained from your adoption worker, any council office or from the council’s website.
