Listed below are the details of the support you can expect from us

Bookbug

When you take your baby to its 7 month health visit, you will be given a Bookbug bag by your Health Visitor containing details about the library and ideas for reading and storytelling.

Libraries will work with their local health centre to build on this support, where possible providing picture book selections for you to use during your visits.

Choosing Books

On joining the library you will receive a welcome pack with leaflets full of ideas for books to read, stories to listen to and internet sites to visit. These will identify appropriate ones for the age range of your child.

We will be happy to provide you with information on groups that may be of interest to you e.g. list of registered childminders.

You will find friendly and supportive staff on hand to give you advice on choosing suitable material.

Your Child’s Education

You can be given help at your local library to make the best use of the ICT based information. These will help you to help your child in their homework & learning.

Every primary school class and nursery will be invited to visit their local library at least once a year. Where this is not possible in the rural areas the local librarian will offer to visit the school.

Storytimes for under 5s. The stories told during these sessions could help you identify ones your child will enjoy at home & and at bedtime.

Book based activities for your child during the Easter, Summer and October holidays.

Visits from children’s authors with school classes being invited to the library.
