Direct Debit Payment

Direct Debit is the most convenient and dependable way to pay.  

Once you have received a Council Tax bill for the property concerned, it is simple and speedy to set up your Council Tax Direct Debit online via this link. You may also set up your Council Tax Direct Debit on the "myaccount" service.

The link on this page will also permit you to AMEND your Direct Debit (for example, the date on which you make payment, or the bank account from which the Direct Debit is paid), or to CANCEL your existing Direct Debit.

Setting up your Council Tax Direct Debit online carries the same safeguards as a paper instruction and we'll confirm to you in writing the bank details you've set up and send you a revised bill detailing your instalments. Instalment Options

  • over 10 months on the 1st or 5th or 15th or 25th, April to January;
  • over 12 months on the 1st or 5th or 15th or 25th, April to March;
  • weekly, on each Friday;
  • fortnightly, on alternating Thursdays;
  • quarterly, on 30 May; 30 August, 30 November and 28 February;
  • six-monthly, on 30 May and 30 November;
  • annually, on 30 June. 

If your instalment date falls on a weekend or a bank holiday, it will be collected on the next available banking day.

If your bank account requires more than one signature, or the Council Tax account is in the name of a company, you will need to download, print off, complete and return a paper Council Tax Direct Debit instruction, click on Council Tax Direct Debit Instruction (PDF) .
