Making Payments to the Council

You can make payments to the Council in the following ways:

Payment Cards

Your questions answered

Customers wanting to pay by cash will be issued with a plastic card that can be used at any Post Office or PayPoint outlet. Look for these logos:

Direct Debit 

 


This is the easiest and most versatile way to pay bills. You will need to complete a form and return it to us, we will forward it to your bank once we have set up your account for this method of payment. Find out more about Direct Debit payments

Telephone the Customer Contact Centre on 01343 563456 and a member of staff will be able to take your payment. This service is available:

Mon, Wed – Fri 9am to 5pm; and Tues 10am to 5pm.

Automated Telephone Payments with your Debit or Credit Card


Call 0845 601 4444 24 hours a day 7 days a week to pay the following bill types:

  • Council Tax
  • Council House Rent - PIN number required
  • Housing Benefit Overpayments (HBO-)
  • Tenants Insurance (INS-) - PIN number required
  • Non Domestic Rates
  • Garage Rents (G0000-0) - PIN number required

Standing Order


You will need to complete a mandate and send it on to your bank. To obtain a mandate, please telephone the Customer Contact Centre on 01343 563456. You will be responsible for telling your bank or building society the amount to pay and must do this each time it changes.
