Registration of Births, Deaths and Marriages

Due to unforeseen circumstances the Moray Registration Service is currently experiencing a staffing shortage and as a result customers may experience a longer waiting time for appointments and responses to requests for copies of certificates and other documents.  Every effort is being made to keep delays to a minimum.

The Moray Registration Service is responsible for the registration of births, marriages and deaths as well as issuing certificates for Moray. We conduct civil marriage ceremonies, including civil partnerships and marriages in licensed premises. We also manage citizenship ceremonies, lair purchase, certificate copies and ancestry research.

Registration is by appointment only. We are open from 9am – 12:30 and 1:30 - 4:30pm, Monday to Friday.

You can order a replacement birth, death or marriage certificate through our online ordering service.

Our address and contact details are shown in the box below.

Tell Us Once – Births and Deaths

All births and deaths need to be registered with the registrar and it may be necessary to contact other organisations. With the 'Tell Us Once' service, we can make life easier for you by telling the people who need to know on your behalf.
