Registration of Births, Deaths and Marriages
UPDATE: Due to the current Coronavirus Pandemic, there has been disruption to many services. Please view our Service Disruption page for the latest updates.
The Moray Registration service is responsible for the registration of births, marriages and deaths as well as issuing certificates for Moray. We conduct civil marriage ceremonies, including civil partnerships and marriages in licensed premises. We also manage citizenship ceremonies, lair purchase, certificate copies and ancestry research.
Registration is by appointment only at our office in Elgin. We are open from 9am – 12:30 and 1:30 - 4:30pm, Monday to Friday.
Our address and contact details can be found below.

Tell Us Once – Births and Deaths
All births and deaths need to be registered with the registrar and it may be necessary to contact other organisations. With the 'Tell Us Once' service, we can make life easier for you by telling the people who need to know on your behalf.
